This is the website of Southport & District CAMRA. We cover the areas in Lancashire and Merseyside from Mere Brow to the north of Southport, Ormskirk, Westhead and Aughton to the east and Freshfield, Hightown and Formby to the south. We are blessed with many fine pubs in our area serving an excellent variety of cask conditioned ales. Click on the drop down menu to go to other pages.
Talk to us on our facebook page by clicking on the facebook logo. Let us know what pubs are closing, what beers are being served, any events that are being held or what you think of pubs in the town and surrounding area.
The branch awards certificates
to pubs in the area that are supporting the national campaign to promote local
breweries. As the area to the west of us is sea we have expanded the area
to the east so that any brewery within thirty five miles by road is in scope
to the scheme. See the Locale page for details..

Did you know that 34% of CAMRA's membership is female? That gives women an impressive campaigning impetus. All over the country women only events are taking place to encourage women to get more involved in the Campaign for Real Ale. Beginning in the North East to avoid any male intimidation seen by some active lady members of the campaign as the cause of low female turnout to CAMRA events, the initiative has caused numbers of women becoming involved in campaigns, targeted at women, to substantially increase. The Southport & District Branch Membership Secretary and Regional Membership Co-ordinator is promoting the first in a series of women only events at the Freshfield Hotel on Massams Lane in Formby, taking place on September 30th at 8.30pm. The intention is to firstly have a social event were women can discuss issues relating to women and CAMRA with a view to developing their role within the local branch. The event is open to female branch members and any other women who feel they would enjoy such an evening, the more the merrier. If him indoors wants to come along he can be accommodated in the men's creche near the dartboard on the night (tongue firmly in cheek).
